The Common Read provides a shared experience of intellectual and community engagement by bringing the campus community together to read and discuss one book and its themes.<\/span><\/p>\n

Goals<\/span><\/h3>\n

Intellectual engagement<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

–First year student academic transition to college<\/span><\/p>\n

–Co-curricular programs bridging academic and student life<\/span><\/p>\n

–Interdisciplinary integration across the curriculum<\/span><\/p>\n

Community engagement<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

–Campus-wide dialogue and programs around one book<\/span><\/p>\n

–Brings together students, staff, and faculty<\/span><\/p>\n

–Fosters civility by exploring different views and experiences<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

How is the Common Read selected?<\/span><\/h3>\n

There are so many outstanding books to choose from. Based on our program goals, the following criteria is used to select books for CSUSM\u2019s Common Read:<\/span><\/p>\n
