The Cornell Lab of Ornithology’s Macaulay Library has digitized its archive of over 150,000 animal sounds.
Search the archive to hear recordings of approximately 9,000 species. This being from Cornell, the majority of the recordings are of bird vocalizations, but according to the Lab’s press release, there are also “sounds from whales, elephants, frogs, primates, and more.”
Ever wondered what a California condor (Gymnogyps californianus) sounds like? Here are 6 recordings from 2003. And if you want to know what sound a humpback whale (Megaptera novaeangliae) makes, you’re in luck — there are 273 audio recordings and 125 video recordings.
Happy listening!
